Anastasia Grishina Strikes Back - UPDATED

Just as the world was losing faith, Anastasia Grishina reemerges from the shadows of the Russian Federation.

And from a mountain top, the Grinch's heart is growing three sizes, a Christmas miracle indeed.

ITAR-TASS reports that young Anastasia will join Ksenia Afanasyeva and Viktoria Komova at the Voronin Cup, December 15-17. This announcement comes on the heels of the recent announcement of Aliya Mustafina retreating to Germany to treat a severe back problem.

Anastasia won the bronze medal in the all-around at the 2013 European Championships and was absent from the World Championships due to injury. She withdrew from the Russian Cup, sparking some colorful comments from Russian top dog, Valentina Rodionenko, and others... Hence, Grishy-Gate... She made a return at the Russian Nationals earlier this year... and consequently injured her ankle.

The Voronin Cup is the last official competition of the Russian gymnastics federation and will be held in Moscow, December 15-17.

Update - The Word on the Gymternet is that Anastasia is NOT competing this week but rather she's taking a vacation in Thailand. Queen Elizabeth of Rewriting Russian Gymnastics posted an update on her site. Anastasia was on vacation when the announcement was made.
