Tatiana Nabieva Comes Out of Retirement to Make the 2014 Worlds Team

Just 8 months after she announced her retirement in January, Russian gymnast Tatiana Nabieva has made a comeback to make the Russian world championship team.

The Russian gymnastics federation announced the 2014 Nanning World Team today. Tatiana was included on the list along with Aliya Mustafina, Maria Kharenkova, Ksenia Afanasyeva, Daria Spiridonova, Alla Sostnitskaya, and Ekaterina Kramerenko.

Viktoria Komova had been considered for the Worlds team, but according to an article on Rsport, Vika's doctor nipped that in the bud. VIka has been out for nearly two years now, dealing with a string of injuries. She missed last year's world championships due to contracting viral meningitis. She missed out on the European championships after sustaining an ankle injury after the Russian Nationals.

Of course, after multiple surgeries, Ksenia is also dealing with a twice operated on ankle that also kept her out of last years worlds and this year's Euros. Valentina Rodionenko, Russia's head coach, said Ksenia's still recovering, but she can vault and do floor exercise.  Valentina confirms Ksenia or Tatiana will be the alternate, a decision will be made in China, depending on who is most prepared.
