Favorite Routines: Svetlana Khorkina; Uneven Bars

This edition of Favorite Routines is featuring Svetlana Khorkina's gold medal winning uneven bar routine from the 1996 Olympic Games.

Any gymnastics fan is in awe of Svetlana Khorkina. Whether it was for her innovative routines and skills or for her badass attitude. Khorkina was the diva of the Russian Gymnastics team, winning medals before Aliya Mustafina made her grand entrance into the world of gymnastics.


This is her gold medal winning bars routine from 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta. She and the rest of the Russian team had been disappointed to get the silver medal behind the US, but Svetlana took home a gold on this event. At this time, Khorkina was taller than a lot of her competitors (the commentators never shut up about it), but no doubt, she defied any stereotype that an elite level gymnast had to be under five feet tall.
