Viktoria Komova Hospitalized; Release Expected Monday

After being absent from the Russian Cup, it was reported that Viktoria Komova was in the hospital with a severe viral infection.

Vika had been feeling ill since last Friday, August 10. Her mother, Vera said that she'd been having trouble sleeping and then reportedly developed a fever and vomiting. It was then her parents put her in the hospital where she has been treated all week for a viral infection. She is due to be released tomorrow, Monday August 19.

Her father, Alexander Komov has stayed with his daughter at the Central Clinical Hospital of Moscow to ensure Vika's recovery. The news broke today that she is healthy enough to be released. As for her gymnastics training, she is cleared to return to training in a week, maybe longer. Vika has been noticeably absent from competition for much of the year as she's been recovering from injuries.  It's not known at this point how it will affect Vika's chances at making the team for Worlds, since Worlds are in less than two months away at this point.

Get well soon, Vika!
