Keeping Up WIth the Round Lake Gymnasts

Lots and lots of drama coming out of Russia in the past couple of days. Really, E! is totally missing out. It really is better than an episode of the Kardashians. So I am just taking it upon myself to create one.

On this week's episode:

Team Russia- Gymnastics on Facebook has posted that Anna Dementyeva has officially retired.
It seems rumors have been circulating for sometime and the news broke today. Anna returned home to Samara and is going to be helping to coach young girls. One of her friends allegedly posted on her personal VK page (Russia's version of Facebook), that she's gained weight. Okay, I call that "growing" it's what happens to kids as they get older.

The news is surprising considering her performances at the University Games, helping the team bring home another gold. But considering the drama, it's not surprising. Maybe Anna wants to get as far away from the crazy as she can. (I smell a spin off!)

There is even more drama, as it turns out, because Ksenia Afanasyeva is allegedly having surgery today. Why is not really known. Hopefully, it's something minor so she'll be back in time for Worlds. Otherwise, Valentina "Kris Jenner" Rodionenko will have to throw in Anna Pavolva.

Oh yes, gymternet, the rumor that's circulating around the gymternet is Pavolva for the Worlds team. Will it happen? I don't know.  Personally, I wouldn't mind just for the reason that I like seeing people who are legally old enough to drink staying with the sport.

But I do know, that she is supposedly at the selection camp for the worlds team. Here is the list of girls who are currently in attendance:

Aliya Mustafina, Tatiana Nabieva, Alla Sosnitskaya, Evgenia Shelgunova, Anna Pavlova or Rodionova, Ekaterina Baturina, Polina Fyodorova, Anastasia Grishina, Ekaterina Kramerenko and Maria Paseka.
